The service supports those experiencing or those that have experienced domestic abuse and their children, who are residents living in Elmbridge, Spelthorne and Epsom & Ewell. As well as providing practical and in some cases emergency support for clients, the service supports clients through the emotional trauma of experiencing domestic abuse by running therapy sessions to help victims recover from its wide reaching effects.
Through The RC Sherriff Trust award, the service will be able to expand and enhance our art therapy workshops for adults and children in Elmbridge who have experienced domestic abuse.
Art therapy can be effective in helping those struggling with the after effects of abuse, particularly when the survivor is unable to discuss their experience verbally. Many people experiencing domestic abuse feel their voices are silenced, so survivors really get something out of expressing themselves and saying what they have to say through arts, crafts and writing.
If you you are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse and would like some advice, please call our service on 01932 260690.
Office hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm, you can leave a message outside of this time.
